A night at The Charlotte Restaurant ,Dallas- Review & Photos

It’s was me, Oge, Abi, Chipo and Chipo’s little sister celebrating Galentines this year.

Chipo chose The Charlotte after Oge quickly dismissed The Glen.

At first, I pictured an English pub, and then I toyed with the idea of a tea party. Honestly, i had no idea what to expect.

As we pulled up, my eyes landed on the long line almost snaking outside. “Thank God we have a reservation” I said to myself.

The Ambience..

I was the first to arrive, so I checked in. The ambience was dimly lit with a row of greenery elegantly separating the bar from the dinner area. I thought I could wait at the bar but thanks to the queue outside, the downstairs bar was completely occupied. I walked up two flights of stairs to explore the upstairs bar which had much cozier vibes. You guessed it, I found myself back downstairs waiting in the hallway for our table - it was a busy night.

Soon, Chipo arrived and we were finally seated in a booth. Our server greeted us with a warm smile-courteous and friendly.

Food Quality…

I ordered a pornstar martini and really enjoyed it so I stuck to it when it was time for round 2.

To my surprise, the menu had global flavours and I was particularly drawn to the West African inspiration. Oge and I shared a portion of the suya spiced charred ribeye skewers and the biryani spiced wings with citrus ranch. Both of these were very tasty with a kick to them and if it wasn’t spicy enough, the skewers were served with a side of suya pepper for you to knock yourself out lol.

For my main, I opted for the crispy duck. Which was very tender to taste, served on top of potato pavé which added a generous filling to the conservatively portioned duck.

For dessert, unfortunately they did not have a menu for this at the time, but the waitress was kind enough to tell us what was being served that evening and we chose to skip dessert for the night.

Charged Ribeye Skewers- Suya spiced, crushed peanut

Pricing $$..

Our bill averaged out to be $90 per person which in my opinion is reasonable for the location and everything they have to offer. It also had a 20% gratuity already included.

I enjoyed the experience well enough to suggest it for date night with my restauranteur husband who was very keen to check it out. For the second time, we were met with a very long line which I now believe is a testament to the love patrons have for The Charlotte. Our server this time was somewhat inattentive and missed a few things but given our experiences and understanding the backend of restaurant workings, we agreed that he deserved some grace.

Rating The Charlotte restaurant..

My verdict? To put it bluntly:

Ambience: 3.5/5

Food: 4/5

Service: 3.5/5

Cleanliness:4/5

Which gives us a total rating of drumroll please… 3.75 out of 5

My recommendations,

  1. Make a reservation

  2. It is Valet parking only- be prepared to tip or pay to park in a nearby carpark across the road

  3. A good experience warrants a good tip- so tip well. I recommend at least 20% unless gratuity is already included, in which case you can tip at your discretion.
